Max Romeo - Chi Chi Bud

Impact AllStars - Bud Version

UK Reissue, original 1972
Produced by K. Chin for Randys, matrix AB065A, reissue distributed by Dub Vendor

Born in 1947 as Max Smith, he joined the Emotions and scored his first hit in 1966 with (Buy You) a Rainbow, produced by Ken Lack. Later he started working for Lee 'Scratch' Perry, as part of the Hippy Boys, which later became the Upsetters. After Romeo cracked the british charts 1968 with the naughty Wet Dream, he transformed from rudeboy to rasta and went on to record some more classic tunes with Lee Perry (check out the 1976 War inna Babylon album on Island) Apart from tunes like Everyman Ought To Know, Sixpence, Red House (no, it's not the Hendrix song) and Chi Chi Bud, Max Romeo also recorded other material for Impact under the name of Maxy Smith (2000 years ago) and as part of Romax & Keith (Don't Blame The Man).
