Reggae has been one of our main diggin' focus for a long time and it never seizes to amaze me how much quality music is made on the little island of Jamaica, where everybody seems to sing and produce. One of our favorite sounds (with real chrunchy guitars) surely must be the Impact label, run by the Chin family and  located at Randy's Studio, 17 North Parade, Kingston, Jamaica. There are a few nice compilations around, notably Impact! Reggae, Funk & Soul from Impact and Randy's Records on the Souljazz label, Randys-17 North Parade on Pressure Sounds and Forward the Bass: Dub from Randy's 1972-1975 on Blood & Fire. All are pretty good, but more goodies can be found, as usual on 45 inch. Click on any of the songs on your right hand, listen and enjoy. You can find 2-minute sound samples, label scans and info on the artist and song. Only for listening purposes; sorry, no downloading..........

Also check out the new label by VP records New York (also founded by the Chin family): http://www.17northparade.com/, it seems they're gonna release 2 albums every month in 2008, so let's hope some Impact material is made available........
