Dennis Emmanuel Brown, the Crown Prince of Reggae, was born in Kingston JA in 1957. He started his carreer, age 11, at Studio One, where he recorded also his first hit with a version of the Impressions' No Man Is An Island. In the early seventies he recorded for a variety of producers like Prince Buster, Alvin Ranglin, Lloyd Daley, Joe Gibbs, Herman Chin-Loy, Phil Pratt and Derrick Harriott. A deejay version of Meet Me At The Corner by Crutches and Dennis, called Wackie Fence Skank, can be found on the Java Java Dub album. He also recorded Foot of the Mountain and the haunting Cheater for Impact. And it was also here at Randys, where Dennis would meet up with mixing desk wizard Errol Thompson, a man who would become very important in his carreer. Dennis sadly died in 1999, after more than 30 years in the music business.
